Slipping into the 90’s….

Hello Lovelies

Congratulations !!! Its midweek , we one less step away from the weekend.

So dust yourself off and give yourself a good ol’ pat on the back, you survived ❤

Ever noticed how clothing trends from way back when constantly makes its appearance every few years? Well ,the 90’s feel is back and I’m loving it!!

My favourite piece revived from the 90’s and a current staple piece in my wardrobe is the slip dress…

We’ve seen this dress making a come back repeatedly over the years, it has been  transformed from leather to satin to velvet, short to long though through all its changes one thing still remained, its an easy wear and can be worn with anything to everything.

The slip dress was introduced in the 1920’s with the intention of a “under garment” and basically replaced corsets (another trend making a come back). Coming back to the 90’s “underwear” was worn as “outerwear”. Though this piece was worn by many celebs I personally feel that Kate Moss is its true ambassador.  Even now, in her 40’s and still rocking this trend like no other. When I see or hear of this dress I think Miss Moss.

“Did someone say Kate Moss? “

The thing I love about this dress is that it can be dressed up or down and worn in any climate. To simmer down the “risqué “look of this dress all you need to do is add some edge. For eg : for slips in neutral shades, throw it over a basic white t-shirt paired up with loafers/booties, it can also be worn over a jeans or a long sleeve blouse (see why I said it could be worn with anything?)  For darker slips, add some “masculine” accessories to it to balance out the femininity (denim jackets or shirts tied around the waist with sneakers or even slides- loving the Puma slides). For a more formal look, opt for satin/velvet laced trimmed maxi slip with minimal jewellery and sexy strappy heels.

The key to making the slip dress transition from season to season is LAYERING( yet another trend this season). For the colder/rainy days it can be paired up with a woolly jumper and cute ankle booties.

Tip: Always remember cut is key – choose a slip that “hugs”” your body.

The dress I’m showing off in this post is my favourite, the metallic slip.

I paired it together with a white t-shirt and red block heel pumps for a pop of colour to keep it girly and playful.
